A little Bit Nautical -GDP 047

Feel the fear and do it anyway she said as she enters her first global-design-project challenge ever! But when I decided to challenge my self to enter the next theme challenge I had no idea that it would be a nautical theme and wouldn’t you know it I don’t have a single nautical themed stamp set or dsp or anything!!! But I was determined to complete my challenge so boy did I have to think outside the box.

So….stepping just a wee bit out of my comfort zone I looked at what I had and set to work on water colouring on shimmery white card stock with tempting turquoise. It is such a gorgeous card stock to water colour onto because when it drys you can still stamp clean crisp images on to it. Its got that gorgeous shimmer too which I just love. It’s like a built in touch of glitter and you gotta love glitter right?? Beautiful for all kinds of projects.

Then I stamped the greeting with night of navy using the brushwork alphabet stamp set. So versatile! You can say what ever you want. Take’s extra time but I love it!

I have used the balloon from the 2016 Sale-a-Bration stamp set “Party Pants” which is no longer available but you can use the balloon celebration stamp set instead. A touch of the the wink-of-stella pen over tempting turquoise worked a treat. I fussy cut around the balloon and popped it up with dimensionals but of course it would be far quicker with the balloon builder punch. That is definitely a must on my next order!

The sand is a piece of ripped sahara sand and then I popped some metallic sequins on top of some silver metallic thread for what I hope appears as a wee bit shell like….or beach like. The gulls and the balloon string are hand drawn with the night of navy stampin’ write markers.

It’s all framed with night of navy card stock and a tempting turquoise card base. I never tire of seeing how it all turns out in the end! So often as we stamp it looks so dull and then when you choose the card stock that perfectly matches the ink you have used in your images (or vice versa) and put it all together it all just pops!

Check out all the other entries in this weeks GDP challenge here. They are totally amazing!
