Saying good-bye to retiring designer series paper is hard especially when it’s your favourite! Sadly the Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper stack will not be available after May 31st. But I just thought I would show you this card to showcase a technique that makes use of the negative from cutting out the large butterfly in the Butterflies Thinlits dies set.
When I want to cut anything using the Big Shot I always see if I can use the negative. Not only does it save paper but it kills two birds with one stone and you end up with two totally different and unique cards with the one pass through the Big Shot.
I find it easier to use the magnetic platform for this task. I can then cut the card the exact size for the layer I want to use the negative for and then line up the butterfly perfectly in the middle of the card. Then hey presto! I had my butterflies for the Split Negative Butterfly Card I made earlier and my negative with the perfectly cut and centered butterly outline ready for the top layer of my next card.
I have used the hello sentiment from the endless birthday wishes stamp set stamped in garden green which matches the love blossoms paper perfectly. After adding a couple of flowers in whisper white die cut from the Bloomin Heart Thinlits dies I layered the butterfly over the DSP. I think the garden green I used on the card base is my new favourite colour this week. It just looks looks stunning with the love blossoms DSP.
Now here is another one with the Timeless Elegance DSP with the flowers in very vanilla. I used the “hello” from the Hello You Thinlits for this one that made use of my black butterfly negative.
So if you have this paper go ahead and try these designs. But, if you missed them the idea works just as well any of our Designer Series Paper with co-ordinating card stock and our gorgeous Stampin Inks.
So here is the supply list for the products I used for both of these cards, just add some designer series paper for underneath the butterfly.
