In the last weeks of November Kathryn Tyrell, a fellow demonstrator shared an article she had seen about Evelyn Lumsden from Hamilton. Mrs Lumsden had recently celebrated her 100th Birthday. The thing that caught her eye was that Mrs Lumsden received over 50 identical cards! How funny is that? The cards came from all over New Zealand and Australia. It seems that there isn’t much to choose from in the ready made card variety for milestone birthday’s of the 100 variety. You can read all about her Mrs Lumsden’s double up cards HERE.
So Kathryn thought it would be a great idea if we all sent Mrs Lumsden a handmade card. So a bunch of made some totally unique cards for Kathryn to send to Mrs Lumsden. Some weeks later Kathryn received a lovely letter of thanks from Mrs Lumsden’s daughter. Of course they were surprised to get a bunch of cards from complete strangers but by the sounds of it they really enjoyed them.
I promised to show you all the card I made for Mrs Lumsden and I finally got around to it today! Unfortunately I snapped off the pics of the card very quickly before I sent it off to in the post and the photos are not the best! But I think you will get the idea.
I went for a very classic and elegant look and created a double Z-fold card with our gorgeous Floral Boutique designer series paper. You card see why it’s called a double Z-fold card when you look down on the card. Can you see the two z’s?
The 100 was die cut using the Large Numbers Framelits dies and then using Night of Navy ink I stamped the sentiment using my ever faithful Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set.
