World Card Making Day celebrates the wonderful art of handmade cards. I thought I would show you a double Z fold card today. I found out just how hard they are to photograph my goodness!
I have used the Petals and Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper. It is my absolute favourite right now. We got through a fair bit of it at my last card class when we made this gorgeous card. It is called a double z-fold card because of the two Z’s you can see when you look down on the card.
The thing that gives them real impact is the 3-D effect so if you can choose something to add to the front panel that gives some height like the butterfly. Just make sure it still fits in the envelope!
Here’s a tip when you adhere the front “Z” to the base card. Fold it first and then you will be able to see where to put your adhesive. You don’t want to end up with adhesive on the parts that don’t end up connecting to card stock. I used tear and tape here so I could get it ready and then position it first to double check.
Then when I was ready I lay the card out flat to stick. I find that this ensures the card will lay flat to write on and then fold nicely. I did add another vanilla panel later as well to give me plenty of room to write.
Here is the same card using Mint Macaron in place of the Night of Navy.
